James Tamou has been moved into the NSW starting line-up for State of Origin I, with Greg Bird shifting to the bench.

Blues coach Laurie Daley made the change an hour before kick off in Wednesday night's series opener. NSW skipper Paul Gallen will likely start at lock with Tamou playing in the front row.

Daley confirmed halfback Adam Reynolds will be the Blues' goalkicker at ANZ Stadium.
